Would you paint wood trim white with dark hardwood floors?

My downstairs is a little dark.. My house was built early 1900s and the hardwood is still in good shape but I would love to lighten it up a bit by painting the trim and stair rails white. Has anyone done this? How do you think this would look?Would you paint wood trim white with dark hardwood floors?
Many homes done this way look very nice - but please, if you go this way: seal the wood before you paint it.

Otherwise, at some point in the far future, there may be a very frustrated person (like me) cursing while trying to remove white paint from hardwood that someone painted before sealing the wood. (I'm working on a door frame right now.)

Or that person may be you in the very-near future changing her/his mind.

Since you have to pull off the woodwork before you paint, try a touch of a furniture refinisher in an inconspicous spot to see if you can lighten up the tone of the wood (I've used both Master's and Formby's with great results) without having to paint.Would you paint wood trim white with dark hardwood floors?
Don't do it stark white, I would do it more of a warm shade, like some kind of an off white, it would really depend on the wall colour
No. It won't look right. Maybe you could sand the floors a bit and restain lighter?
