Stripping paint from wood with Heat Gun or Chemical?

I want to strip the paint from my interior mouldings in my 1916 home in Salt Lake City. What is the better way to go about this, using a heat gun or chemicals? Any info would be great, thanks!Stripping paint from wood with Heat Gun or Chemical?
You may want to think about sticking with painted trim. Not only will it be a bear to get down to wood, you probably have several layers of lead paint to deal with. If you really want to get it to wood, I'd try the heat gun first. Keep it moving so you don't scorch the wood, and use a plastic putty knife to scrape it as you loosen the paint. Hope this helps.Stripping paint from wood with Heat Gun or Chemical?
Use a heat gun first and then apply a stripper and use steel wool to remove the rest.

Just be sure it doesn't contain any lead.

Would not use a heat gun.

Smelly,%26amp; there is a chance of scorching the wood .

Impossible to replace vintage molding.

Had a shop %26amp; it was a bear to strip off the cooked on paint residue.

Going to be a mess no matter what .

The heavy paste strippers are probably best if you do it in place, since they will not drip %26amp; run all over.

If you can , see if the moldings can be removed %26amp; done separately esp if you are returning to a natural finish.

If you do get them cleaned up ...avod sanding.

Better to burnish the wood w. fine bronze wool or even crunpled paper bags.

See third sentence from top.

Good to save old things.

Best regards
