I have read dozens of ways. Some say to sand lightly, others not to bother. Some say to prime, others say don't bother. My wood floor is ugly and it makes my living room look dark and dingy. I want to paint it white. Any suggestions, ideas, websites? Thanks to all who answer. What Is The Correct Way To Paint A Wood Floor White?
I would always sand, and prime, both for the same reason, which is that if you don't sand and prime, there's a good chance that the paint won't stick very well. Depending on what finish is on your floor now, you might even have to strip the finish off--if, perhaps, it's an old wood floor that's been waxed. Floors take a lot of wear, so making sure the paint sticks properly is very important. You don't want to have to paint it again in 6 months. It might very well take much longer to prep the floor for painting than it will take to actually paint it. And don't cheap out with the paint you buy. Get something good quality, made for floors. If I were you, I'd go to a store that sells paint only, and ask their advice. What Is The Correct Way To Paint A Wood Floor White?
Since you've already read a dozen ways. . . take your pick. Good Luck!
