How to take old paint off of wood paneling?

About 10 years ago, my mom had someone do some ';home improvements'; in her house--which for some reason, involved painting all the wood paneling white! Some of it is starting to peel, and I was wondering if there was a safe way to remove ALL of the paint while sparing the wood paneling underneath, if it isn't already ruined. Thanks! How to take old paint off of wood paneling?
The paneling's not going to be easy to strip...and the process of stipping it won't make it nice when you're done. The easy solution is to put up 1/2'; drywall right over the paneling and be done with the mess. Then you have nice new walls. It's only $8/sheet for the drywall...12 for someone to hang it and finish it...$30 for paint...and then you have beautiful walls and no stripping mess. It would be done in 2-3 days, painting included. How to take old paint off of wood paneling?

10 yrs ago its probably shot so tear it down and start with fresh paneling
Use a hot air gun and a scraper or a water based paint striper such a Nitromores
This is 2007, not 1977! Take the wood paneling down and paint the drywall. Yuck!
