What is the best way to get paint off of wood?

We just bought a house that was built in the 1800's. It has beautiful woodwork throughout that I absolutely love. My problem is someone painted some of it white. I have 1 door and two doorways that I would like to remove the paint from. What is the best way to do this? Any certain chemicals or brands that I should use? If it helps the areas are the kitchen and bathroom. What is the best way to get paint off of wood?
';StripEze'; available at hardware stores. Paint it on, let it sit, when it has bubbled and dried a bit, scrape off with T-style scraper (sharpenable using a ';bastard'; file. Try not to get it on your skin. Rinse with water if you do. Sand (succession of: 60, 80, 100, 120, 220 grits) refinish as desired. 220 sanding between coats of varnish = mirror shine.

have fun, congrats on beautiful abodeWhat is the best way to get paint off of wood?
there is something called paint thin er, you can buy it in any hardware store, but first you have to scrub the old paint with also hard material, ..they can help you in the same store if you ask them ..i forget the name of it..they will know what you mean
There are many different brands on the market today. The paint on your door could be old, or have many coats. Be sure to get a big spongee and tray, scrapers, gloves and in most cases mask's. This will be the easiest way. Place a drip cloth under where you work, so you won't hurt the floor. Take it slow and do not rush. Using the spong soak the paint then lightly scrape the paint off. It will take you a while, but the reward will be worth it.
