How do I make paint on wood look rustic/faded?

I want to make some old looking signs for the yard, I have tons of old rustic fence panels but I want to paint them without taking away from the rustic look.


I want the paint to look old and faded and if possible like it's peeling too.





I am also looking for ways to make the curly wire for them too, what kinda wire do I use?How do I make paint on wood look rustic/faded?
Try diluting your paint with water to give it that faded look. Then get an old chain or a key chain with lots of keys and bank them against the fence panel. That will chip off paint and bang up the panel to make it look more weathered. There is also a product called Crackle Paint that you can buy (if you want that look). As far as the wire, you could try chicken wire or just go to local hardware store and see what they have.
