How can I remove paint from wood?

I have some basic tools, i.e. drill, random orbital sander. I can't afford to buy a belt sander and don't know what else to do. Any suggestions? The paint is very old, my guess is 50+ years. How can I remove paint from wood?
This page will help you and read the warning which gives a great tip for older properties (as you think it is). Have fun!

First, if it is old paint, it may contain lead and you should take the proper precautions.

If you want to remove all paint from the wood surface then you might consider a heat gun and putty knife or a chemical stripper. Other than that, it's a paint scraper and sand paper.
there is a product called ';peel and strip';. you apply a coating then wait for it to dry then you peel it off. i have used it and works well. they sell it at paint stors not DIY box stores
well you can try white spirit but if its old. you can only trim it.
