How to paint wood and knot holes so they don't bleed through?

Someone told me silver paint works so that it will not bleed through. Anyone know this trick? If not I suppose I would use a specific primer? How to paint wood and knot holes so they don't bleed through?
seven years working in the paint business for a major manufacturer, four years in teh Navy and several years painting houses tells me that if you coat them with Shellac, clear or pigmented, that solves the problem. Wood primers will not work, and I don't think silver paint will. If you are going to paint it with white, you can use a white pigmented shellac, if not coat it twice. How to paint wood and knot holes so they don't bleed through?
The best way to paint wood and knot holes is to use a good primer. Silver doesn't always work on every type of wood. Get a good primer like KILZ and you won't have to worry any more. This is the type I have been using since it first came out several years ago. Make sure you use it in a well ventilated area. The new kilz out is colored and orderless but still make sure of ventilation for safety.
Apply a coat of shellac first.
Hi, they told you to use Silver Paint ,because of the pigment. There's a lot in it. But, if you want to cover knots in wood before painting, Use Kilz Oil Base Primer first. Its a primer and a sealer, and covers better than any of the other brands. But if you want to use the Silver Paint,go ahead, then use the Kilz. Bye
KILZ premier primer
Use ';Kilz';, that will do the trick, you can even buy it in custom colors so one coat is all it takes. Wal-mart sells it!
shellac is what you want to use.
KILZ primer works wonders
You can buy the ';kilz'; primer in an aerosol can. You only need to prime with the kilz over the knotholes so this would be the most in-expensive for your budget.
A shellac based primer is will stop the sap stains. Most hardware stores sell these types of primers for this purpose.
use a good wood sealer allow it to dry over night then apply your paint. [spar paint or the like for boats]
